Test transformers

Test transformers / step-up transformers are used in various applications for generation of high voltage. Like EPRO standard voltage and current transformers, test transformers are used for example for accuracy measurement on current and voltage transformers, to generate high voltage or high current.

Test transformers are used in metrological institutes /national standard bodies, manufactures of voltage and current transformers, transformers, as well as at high voltage laboratories and and anywhere generation of high voltage or high current is needed.

Models from 20 kV up to 50 kV with output between 5 kVA and 100 kVA are available.
Detailed specifications will be established according to customer’s requirements.
For higher voltage, mostly more than 200 kV, these test transformers are designed as a cascasde execution, where the lower cascade step can be operated independently. Maximum reliability in the lab over decades is secured by the use of these maintenance free test transformers.
EPRO Gallspach´s dry insulated test transformers are available for 20 and 30 kV with a max. continuous output of 5 kVA. These test transformers are quite lightweight devices with 85-105kg. The devices are free from oil and therefore very environmental friendly.

Next to step-up transformers EPRO produces also step-down transformers on customers demand.

Normally the operating frequencies of these devices are between 50 and 100 Hz. But EPRO Gallspach GmbH also offers special devices for higher frequencies up to 1000 Hz and also special designs for 16,66 Hz frequency who are mostly used in railroad applications. All test transformers are partial discharge free.

A big variety of the test transformers are also available in mobile execution for testing on site and transport in a truck. This mobile (outdoor) execution can be distinguished from the other devices by the light grey silicone rips on the outside.
