Oil insulated standard current transformers

EPRO Gallspach GmbH’s Standard current transformers are used in the industry since decades. They are internationally well known for maximum reliability and accuracy. As the devices are purely inductive, properly handled, the lifetime is up to 30 years and more without any accuracy drift or any changes.

 

Oil insulated conventional current transformers offer several advantages that can make them preferable to dry type transformers in certain applications:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

  • High insulation capability: Oil has a very high dielectric strength and therefore provides excellent electrical insulation. This is especially important in high voltage applications.                                                                                                                                                                                                              
  • Cooling: Oil not only serves as an insulating medium but also acts as a coolant. It effectively dissipates the heat generated by current flow. This allows operation at higher currents and ambient temperatures.                                                                                                                                                                       
  • Long Service Life: When properly used, oil insulated transformers can achieve a very long service life. The oil protects the windings from moisture and other environmental influences.                                                                                                                                                                                                   
  • Proven Technology: Oil insulated transformers are a mature and well established technology that has been used for many decades. There is extensive experience and a well-developed set of standards for their design and application.  
  •                                                                                                            
  • Cost-effectiveness: In certain high voltage applications, oil insulated current transformers can be more economical than dry type alternatives.
